Dry VS Dehydrated Skin The most common misconception is thinking your skin is dry but could really be dehydrated or vice versa! What to do for dry skin: Remember this is your skin type, it can be managed and treated. Dry skin does not have enough oils to protect the outer layer of skin which can cause a damaged skin barrier. Leading to redness, itchiness, and flakiness. Try switching your moisturizer and cleanser to something a little bit more richer and creamy. Your skin needs oils from the products to help give back what is lacking. Make sure you’re exfoliating at least 2 to 3 times a week and don’t forget into add your favorite facial oil to top your moisturizer with. Dehydrated skin : This is a skin condition and most people even with dry skin can suffer from dehydration. This means that your skin is not producing enough oil to the outer most layer of your skin. What you can do is treat it with beta glucan, hyaluronic acid, peptides, and even facial oil’s. Did you know about these common acne triggers that could potentially be the cause of your breakouts? Taking high-doses of vitamin B6 and B12 (more than 5 mg to 10 mg per week) has been shown to cause acne breakouts and/or worsen existing acne. You can have a basic cleanser and a treatment cleanser but always make sure you use them on alternating days ! Make sure depending on your skin type you exfoliate anywhere from 2-3 times a week as long as it isnt to harsh or abrasive for the skin! UVB rays are burning rays which can cause major damage to the surface layer of your skin. Causing dehydration, pigmentation, peeling on the surface. A more serious side effect from burning rays are melanoma. UVA rays are aging rays which target the deeper layers of the skin causing accelerated aging, and wrinkles. These rays damage your collagen and elastin resulting in sagging skin, deep lines etc. Broad spectrum SPF 30-50 is your primary protection from the suns both UVA and UVB rays. Think of it as your makeup that includes a small amount of sunscreen in it is a screen blocking only some not all. Not sure where some of you guys get your Intel from but I will be the first one to tell you that SPF does not mean you won’t get a tan! SPF, broad-spectrum simply blocks UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are one of the MAIN causes of aging and UVB rays are one of the MAIN causes of skin cancer! Broad spectrum SPF is to protect your skin from those two things. You will 100% be able to still get a beautiful coat of color but in the SAFEST way! I don’t know who feels comfortable burning out there looking like a fried chicken, but I like my tan to be slow, gradual and safe ! ✨Some needs to know when you are starting out using retinol 👍🏻 ✨Using SPF everyday is crucial when using retinol in your regiment to avoid extreme redness and sensitivity. ✨Retinol is a strong ingredient that will shed your dead skin cells making your skin extra sensitive to the sun. Always be sure to only apply it at night. ✨This ingredient can make your skin very sensitized. Redness, irritation, flaking and peeling can occur. Mixing and layering other actives can cause more irritation and sensitivity. ✨When starting out always opt in for a low dosage of the ingredient. If you are choosing to use OTC retinol and have sensitive skin look for a product with retinol esters or retinyl palmitate. If you are looking more towards a strong prescription stretch go for 0.025 and work your way up to .1% ✨Its best to always nourish the skin when using retinol so be sure to add in your best moisturizer after or to dilute the potency of the product application simply mix your retinol in with your moisturizer! ✨When starting retinol of any type it is optimal if it is a gradual increase of usage. 💪🏻 Our face contains a large amount of muscles, and where there is muscle there is tension ALOT. Draining your face of built up congestion, toxins, and excess water should be done at least weekly to maintain a healthy face. 🫵🏻So did you know that you don’t need any tool to do massage drainage?! All you need are your two beautiful hands 🙌🏻 Make sure you follow along! 1️⃣make sure you have a clean face and your favorite facial oil for this. 2️⃣Start by opening up your chest so much fluid and tension sits in our chest we can release that and open up the rest of our drainage cycle by moving what’s in our chest into our lymph nodes in our armpits! ( you may get slightly red and thats okay! You need to loosen up all that fascia!) 3️⃣Next we open up our neck, we have lymph nodes in our neck as well where everything buildup in our face will get released down to them. 4️⃣ moving to the jawline and chin. Use your two fingers as little backwards claws to shape and drain down to the neck 5-10 times 5️⃣ repeat for cheeks into temples 5-10 times 6️⃣ open up the sides of your ears. SO much fluid gets released this way. It feels AMAZING. Then open up the back of your ears always remembering to drain down to the neck. Do you love self care or what?!
